Alas,Rock Pond, where the canoeists begin their trip,is an absolute sanctuary. To get there you canoe across a lake, pull up onto a path, and hike for about half an hour. You arrive at alpine perfection. Because of the hike many would- be visitors are discouraged from making the effort. That’s a good thing for the wildlife and overall condition of this incredible place. Hate to think of hoards of NPR pc types descending on it.

Thanks for the comment. Why do you say “alas”? Its sounds spectacular! Or is it that it might be more discovered now?
